Most of our pieces are made to be worn often, not preserved. Treat them well and they'll last years. Always check the care tag first — if it says dry clean only, don't machine wash it. Once fibers felt or embroidery puckers, it can't be undone.

Pashmina abayas

  • Cold water, gentle cycle, mild detergent — we use Tide Free & Gentle.
  • Hang dry. Don't tumble dry, even on low — heat is what wears fabric out.
  • Don't wring. Press water out gently with a towel and hang.
  • Steam more than you iron. If you must iron, low heat and a pressing cloth.
  • Some fabrics pill a little in the first few wears. A pashmina comb or a soft sweater stone, used gently, takes it off, and it usually stops after the first month.

Embroidered suits, kaftans and dresses

  • Dry cleaning is safest for silk, cutwork, cutdana and hand-embroidered pieces.
  • If the tag allows washing, hand wash in cold water on its own — dark and bright colors can bleed the first time.
  • Never wring or tumble dry. Roll it in a towel, then dry flat or on a wide hanger in shade.
  • Steam, or iron on low from the reverse side with a cloth over the embroidery, stones and sequins.

Storage
Hang abayas on a wide hanger — thin wire ones leave shoulder marks over time. Fold embroidered sets with the work facing in, in a cotton or muslin bag, away from jewelry and Velcro that can snag threads. Cedar is fine; mothballs leave a smell that takes months to clear.

If something comes loose
A loose seam, a thread, a button that's about to go — send us a photo. If it's within 90 days of purchase, we'll cover the repair or replace the piece. After 90 days, we can usually still help — write to us.
